Hong Kait graduated with a Bachelor of Laws from the University of London and was called to the Malaysian Bar on 19th June 2003.
Hong Kait has represented various banking and financial institutions, large corporate organisations as well as individuals up until appellate level. As a Partner, Hong Kait is also famed for his ability to provide strategic and risk management advise in court litigation and appellate proceedings as well as his ability to advise clients for a most beneficial, viable and effective resolution method.
Hong Kait’s practice focuses on the following areas :-
- General commercial litigation in Lower, High and Appellate Courts as well as alternative dispute resolution
- Contract and tortuous disputes
- Banking and Hire Purchase matters
- Employment and Industrial Relation Laws.
Hong Kait continues to be recognised as one of the few market leading lawyers in scrutinising and structuring hire purchase transactions with exceptional commercial and legal skills, as a result of which Hong Kait has been involved in the proposing and advising amendments to the law as well as the compliance thereof.

Hong Kait has also acted in an advisory capacity in the following positions: –
- 2010-2012 – Advising the Association of Hire Purchase Companies Malaysia (AHPCM) on the impact of Hire Purchase (Amendment) Act 2010.
Appointed by various banks to conduct a full review of hire purchase and Islamic hire purchase business and review of all documentations, process and procedure including drafting new documents for the banks to ensure all hire purchase transaction is in full compliance with the amendments.
- 2019-2020 – Appointed by AHPCM to prepare and propose to the Ministry for amendment to Hire Purchase Act 1967 and proposal for Consumer Credit Act to amongst other include digital or electronic acceptance for hire purchase industry, to provide for safe guards against syndicate that offer “sambung bayar” scheme and to provide other changes to allow a more consumer and industry friendly regulations.
- 2021-current – legal advisor in AHPCM technical committee to provide advice, consultation, drafting and proposal for Consumer Credit Act and to liaise with the Ministry.
- 2022-current – appointed as Honorary Legal Advisor for AHPCM.
